When you receive your boathouse mesh order you will receive an mounting kit. The kit can be used in most situations but feel free to alter the installation as needed for your boathouse door. The mounting kit contains a lightweight polyester strip with perforated holes. You will also receive stainless steel self-drilling, self-taping screws.
Some people have used small diameter PVC pipe filled with sand and capped at both ends for adding weight to the mesh in areas where wind is an issue. Always consider safety and any possible damage that can occur to your door or door hardware prior to installation.
IMPORTANT: Consider the strength of the mesh when you are mounting it. If anything gets caught in the mesh it could damage your overhead door and/or cause serious injuries. Mounting the mesh so it can break away easily is recommended. Sometimes the supplied mounting kit may make the installation too strong, which is not desirable (or safe). Other types of installations may include Velcro, staples, string, or other methods. Please consider all methods when mounting prior to installation.
Below are some basic instructions using the mounting kit provided, but please read the above information before proceeding.
